What Will Heaven Be Like?

Many people have constructed their own idea of what God is or should be and how we should approach and worship Him. The God of the Bible reveals Himself to us in His word. It is in the teachings found in the word of God that humanity not only receives the revelation of God but also how we are accepted in His Kingdom.

It is in God’s recorded word that we discover what citizenship in the godless community of unbelieving humanity is:

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Ti 3:1-7)

As we live our lives bound for God’s Kingdom, we too live our lives in preparation of our home that awaits us. The Apostle Paul makes clear there is a stark difference between we who are citizens of Heaven and the behavior of the world-bound residents. Paul said:

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” (Eph 5:1-5)

Godless, sensual and sinful behaviors that are accepted and practiced outside the people of God are not acceptable in our lives here on Earth and will not be in our heavenly home. God’s people should be in the practice of working to be free of worldly and carnal activities and practices.

The teachings of God’s word are clear on this matter. The lives of the people of God are to be lived in such a way that it is clear they are heaven-bound:

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (Heb 11:13)

Are you bound for Heaven? Do you know Jesus and the power of His resurrection? Have you been born-again by the work of Jesus? Today you can know for certain you are Heaven-bound if you will rest in Jesus’ completed work. Call on Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour today.
